Right Place, Right Time

At home on the Salmon River

It could have been the panorama,

the room with a view,

or the nice neighbor.

Might have been the unexpected,

a surprise geocache,

loaded with cool loot.

Or, perhaps the Salmon River coursing by our camp...

All combined we felt lucky, settled in at yet another perfect spot. Donna tried nymphing and I tried streamer fishing. The "catching" was naught for naught. Though tubers plunged headlong downstream, wading this section of the river was a fool's errand. We couldn't negotiate a better fishing position, so for the time being, we contented ourselves watching our deer neighbors across the river who had the softer [wadeable] water all to themselves.

With the Sawtooths & the Salmon setting the scene,

we met Mary Ann & Dave Dozer for a burger & a brew.

The 4 of us fished the middle Salmon.

Guides always have homework to do & we helped with the "research".

We fished above and below the Salmon - Yankee Fork confluence, then convened at a local pizza joint for a slice and a brew.

Mary Ann and Dave were easy fishing buddies and generous friends during our stay in Stanley. Mary Ann recommended one of our next fishing destinations and Dave made a date to fish with us the next day.
