Fly Casting Instruction - Who needs it?

When I’m at my local park practicing, I’ve been offered unsolicited casting advice from every dog walker, street walker and character under the sun who’s ever once held a fly rod in their hand - or not. People who couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn with a fly, habitually give generous casting tips to the uninitiated. Amusing and harmless enough, unless you’re vulnerable to the notion that these well-intended pedestrians know more about fly fishing than you do. Maybe they do, then again, maybe not. If you find yourself in a pickle, divining truth from fiction, or if you’re not making the kind of progress you want with the kind of advice you’re getting, don’t stuff your fly rod in a neglected dark corner. Engage a casting instructor.

Casting instruction is for anyone who wants to learn and have fun. If fly fishing is something you’ve always wanted to do, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. Hands down, solid instruction is the best way to begin when you’re just starting out.

Anytime is a good time for a refresher lesson and some casting practice. For experienced anglers stuck between fishing seasons, now's the best time. Does your dream vacation fantasy about big fish, repeatedly running deep into your backing, get jarringly interrupted by an imaginary, nevertheless relentless sea breeze, akin to a gale force facelift? Well, you’ve been meaning to perfect your double haul, haven’t you? You want your significant other to learn to cast and accompany you on trips.... Ahem, engage a casting instructor, really.

Anyone with a fly rod rattling around in the back of a closet, stowed away in either frustration or bewilderment, I urge you to pry it out and give me a call. If you haven’t any equipment, you don’t need it and I don’t want you to rush out and buy it. Not yet. Equipment is available upon request.

Keep it simple. You’ll know when casting instruction is right for you. There’s several good instructors in the valley. I can schedule a lesson with you, or recommend another qualified instructor. Phoenix Fly Casting Instruction
